1. Re: Trouble loading page in IE -- could not replace element
mdhirsch30345 Sep 12, 2012 11:23 AM (in response to mdhirsch30345)Incidentally, I tried the errai-ui-demo in my IE8 browser, and it doesn't appear to load, either. Do Errai have a problem with Internet Explorer?

mdhirsch30345 Sep 12, 2012 11:29 AM (in response to mdhirsch30345)This has similar symptoms to issue ERRAI-239, https://issues.jboss.org/browse/ERRAI-239 , in that I get and "Exception thrown and not caught" error, but I don't think the cause is the same as I don't have any "darkgrey" in my app.

lincolnthree Sep 12, 2012 2:46 PM (in response to mdhirsch30345)Hey Michael,
Errai UI Demo was set only to compile for Firefox and Chrome based browsers. I have just pushed a fix for this, and it does render fine on IE8 (see attached screenshot.) Also, I ran Errai UI Demo on IE8 and it loads fine (although there is another problem on all browsers which is apparently preventing it from sending messages.)
Is it possible for you to create a new JIRA under the Errai UI component and attach a small sample project that reproduces your problem on IE8?
Thanks,
Lincoln

lincolnthree Sep 12, 2012 4:17 PM (in response to mdhirsch30345)Ok, I built the latest Errai SNAPSHOT and everything is working for me. Even on IE8.

mdhirsch30345 Sep 12, 2012 4:21 PM (in response to lincolnthree)Lincoln,
I don't have a good minimal example, but I know how to replicate it. Errai can't seem to create a password field in IE8.
Here's what I did to errai-ui-demo to replicate my problem:
Add
<input data-field="password" type="password" placeholder="password"/>
to App.hml after the email data-field.
Add a password field to Profile.java with a getter and setter.
Also add a password TextBox to App.java that is @inject and @DataField.
The new project works fine in Firefox and Chrome, but fails to load for me in IE8. AGain, I'm using errai 2.1.0.CR1 and GWT 2.4.0.
I created JIRA https://issues.jboss.org/browse/ERRAI-387
for this issue.

6. Re: Trouble loading page in IE -- could not replace element
mdhirsch30345 Sep 20, 2012 10:54 AM (in response to mdhirsch30345)Okay, I finally figured out how to solve this, but I still don't quite understand it.
I turns out that, although my html template had
<input data-field="password" type="password" placeholder="password"/>
my Java code had
protected TextBox password;
instead of
protected PasswordTextBox password;
Once I switched to PasswordTextBox the app started loading in IE, though neither Chome nor Firefox had any problems with TextBox.
I must admit that I don't understand exactly why one works and the other doesn't. But at least it loads, now.

lincolnthree Sep 25, 2012 3:06 PM (in response to mdhirsch30345)Glad you figured it out. I admit I was a bit shocked. I'm still not sure why it wouldn't work. Sounds like it may be a bug in GWT. I will try to dig deeper into this as time permits.
Thanks for the update,
Lincoln
