allati Jan 23, 2012 5:23 AM (in response to maxandersen)Twistie is a small +/- or triangle icon near tree node to expand/collapse it. I think screenshot isn't necessary, you have obviously seen them before

maxandersen Jan 23, 2012 6:19 AM (in response to allati)Yes, a +/- icon is on files which you can expand to see more content and in some cases edit them directly there without using an editor.
We support that for .xml and .properties.
How are they causing any problems to you ?

It seems that my brain made a habit of separating folders from files not (only) by icon, but by these twisties as well. I have tried to adapt JBT in my daily work in the past, but every time after several days I have found that file twisties just... i don't know... distract me, make navigating project structure a little harder to the point that I uninstall JBT.
I like the idea with expandable files, but IMHO this concept seems a little strange in the "file structure" (low-level, files are generally terminal nodes) considering that you add virtual "web resources" structure (high-level, anything can be a node) to the project tree.

maxandersen Jan 23, 2012 11:21 AM (in response to allati)Sorry to hear you don't like them - I use them constantly to avoid opening another editor.
I'm not sure if we can disable them "globally" in a generic fashion but we could look into it, at least only for files we know. Could you please open a feature request for this on https://jira.jboss.org/jira/browse/JBIDE ?
btw. the way to distinguish folders from files in eclipse is by the folder icon - not the file.
...and how come you survived with having Eclipse JDT installed, it does the same for .java files

Now this is a good question
