1. Re: Can Infinispan act as a standalone server without the support of JBOSS AS

mircea.markus Jul 9, 2010 3:53 AM (in response to savin7)Not sure I get your question. Infinispan grid can be started in several processes that would all communicate between them. There no dependency from any web/application server to infinispan - possbile the other way around. What is your use case?

4. Re: Can Infinispan act as a standalone server without the support of JBOSS AS
savin7 Jul 12, 2010 1:03 AM (in response to mircea.markus)Dear Mircea\Manik,
1) My question was not about Infinispan having the dependency towards any App Server.
My question is "Whether Infinispan have its own server ? So that Infinispan can run without any App Server like JBOSS, Websphere, Weblogic and Web Server like Tomcat etc.
Is it possible to have Infinispan running on its own server ? whether it has its own dedicated server ?
Or a App Server \ Web Server is mandatory to run Infinispan and Infinispan doesn't have its own server. Kindly clarify.
2) My use case is to Cache the data from a webservice and needs to circulate the data to requesting app servers as on when needed.
a) If infinispan has its own server, I have to cache the data in that Infinispan sever and send it to requesting app server [JBOSS, Websphere, etc.,].
b) If infinispan, dont have its own server, I have to implement infinispan in any of the App server[JBOSS, Websphere] and have to send the data to another requesting app server [JBOSS, Websphere, etc.,].
Looking forward to your hearing.. Advance Thanks
Thanks & regards,
Savin

mircea.markus Jul 12, 2010 8:13 AM (in response to savin7)1 of 1 people found this helpfulyou don't need any applciation servers to run Infinispan. If you want to access it from an extarnal you can do that as well, just take a look at Clientr serve modules in the documentation: http://community.jboss.org/wiki/infinispan
