<script> CalendarContext.prototype.todayControl = CalendarView.getControl("XXX", "today"); </script> on your page to set the label you need. ("XXX" in example below)

The following JS put before the rich:calendar tag works:<script> CalendarView.getControl("XXX", CalendarView.toolButtonAttributes,"today") </script>
