1. Re: How to run JBoss Server 6 with run.bat.conf in Eclipse?
maxandersen Oct 28, 2011 5:40 AM (in response to dasago)We don't start via the .bat file because there is no portable way to stop/kill the process a bat file starts via java.
You can edit the launch configuration use to launch eclipse if you need custom configuration.

2. Re: How to run JBoss Server 6 with run.bat.conf in Eclipse?
busitech Oct 29, 2011 6:37 PM (in response to maxandersen)The OP may have been wondering how to customize the startup environment specifically for the JBoss 6 server when started from within Eclipse, using JBoss Tools. This is what we are wondering - where do the settings come from? They do not match those used by Eclipse itself.
For example, we need to raise the memory limits via VM arguments (the defaults appear to be -Xms256m -Xmx768m -XX:MaxPermSize=256m). We also need to set java.awt.headless=true so as to not freeze the Dock in Mac OS after the server shuts down.
When you choose Properties on the Runtime Configuration in the Server area, there are almost no options shown. Is there a way to specify arguments passed to the VM when starting the server?
If you meant that Eclipse and new instances of the JBoss server start up using the same Eclipse preference file, that does not appear to be true, as our Eclipse environment uses -Xmx2048m.

In the server's view, double-click your server. This opens the server editor. Near the top of the first page, you will see a hyperlink that reads "Open Launch Configuration"
From here, you can modify vm args and launch args.

busitech Oct 31, 2011 1:38 AM (in response to rob.stryker)Perfect, thank you! That brings up many options. I was trying to use the right-mouse context menu on the server entry, and assuming all options available would be listed there. I did not try a double click there... Thanks again!

rob.stryker May 24, 2012 4:35 AM (in response to dasago)Hi Dasago:
You can modify any program and vm arguments for a server by double-clicking the server in the server's view, and then, in the server editor, selecting "Open Launch Configuration". This will open the launch tab group where you can modify program args or launch args.
