docjava_seattle Mar 19, 2003 2:29 PM (in response to toastchum)Just to let people know, I eventually solved my template build problem regarding EnumeratedAttribute (reported above) by fiddling with my ant configuration. Unfortunately I don't remember exactly what I did to solve the problem.

billfanaus Apr 3, 2003 7:55 PM (in response to toastchum)I can't get to the guide either.
I've spent the last 3 days or so to try to figure out what the hell I need to do to set up the "interest" web app to run on jboss-3.0.3_tomcat-4.1.12 bundle. I've also follow a lot of advices to paid to buy the whole year subscription and get all the up-to-date documents, and it doesn't help at all for the simple stuff I want to set up.
The experience was just like going through HELLLLLLLLL...
Finally, I got it up and running!!!
Here is what I have done...
1. Download the j2sdk1.4.x, j2sdkee1.3.1, ant1.5.1, xdoclet1.1.2 etc..., install them and set up all the relevant HOME's env variables.
2. Download the jboss-3.0.3_tomcat-4.1.12.zip boundle and extract it to somewhere in the file system. I put it at c:\jboss-3.0.3_tomcat-4.1.12 for a simple start.
3. Download the example from http://www.jboss.org/docs/manual/files/documentation-example.zip. I extracted it to c:\jboss-3.0.3_tomcat-4.1.12\examples...
Please note, there is a prolem with the examples\org\jboss\docs\interest\web.xml, you need to add the following line to it:
<!DOCTYPE web-app PUBLIC "-//Sun Microsystems, Inc.//DTD Web Application 2.3//EN" "http://java.sun.com/dtd/web-app_2_3.dtd">
4. From command prompt, go to c:\jboss-3.0.3_tomcat-4.1.12\examples\build, where the example was extracted to in step 3, and type in "ant intro-interest-ear"
5. You will find interest.ear & interest.war under %JBOSS_HOME%\examples\build-examples\interest folder.
6. Copy interest.ear to %JBOSS_HOME%\server\default\deploy
7. Copy interest.war to %JBOSS_HOME%\tomcat-4.1.x\webapps
8. Start JBozz...
9. That's it! You can get to the Interest EJB Form the site at http://localhost:8080/interest
Hope this is useful for a new bie like me...;-) -

juhalindfors Apr 17, 2003 11:36 AM (in response to toastchum)You don't need to download and install j2sdkee1.3.1.
Actually it is probably better if you don't (less likely to conflict with JBoss). -

dave1 Apr 28, 2003 6:56 PM (in response to toastchum)Hi;
I'm hitting 2 problems with this.
1) There is no tomcat/webapps directory. The bext I've found is JBOSS_DIST/server/tomcat/deploy
2) It doesn't like the ejb-jar.xml. It wants a valid DOCTYPE but nothing seems to work.
Running: jboss-3.2.0_tomcat-4.1.24
Any ideas?
thanks - dave -
27. Re: Read the really simple getting started guide here.
juhalindfors May 4, 2003 11:09 AM (in response to toastchum)1) use the JBoss deploy directory
2) Copy the DTD declaration from the spec. It works. -
28. Re: Read the really simple getting started guide here.
substring May 6, 2003 9:04 AM (in response to toastchum)luke, it is a great guide. Thank you.
Now let me ask you a question. Do you know where I can change the port number? When I installed Oracle 9i, it took the port 8080. Therefore, I have to use a different port for JBoss.
I have gone thru the folder where I unzipped JBoss to (i.e. C:\jboss-3.2.1_tomcat-4.1.24), and I can't find anywhere that I can change the port number.
I am quite new to these and your help will be very much appreciated. -
