Challenge while creating single View for two Sources

Hello,

I want one to create One View for Two sources(One table, one View).
The Source has one View(lets say Combined) and One table(lets say ABC). ABC table is a part of Combined.

Because i cannot insert into Combined directly, i am importing ABC so that to insert the data into it which ultimately inserts in Combined.

Now, i have most of my columns exactly the same in the two sources.

When i am creating the View(lets say Test) and importing both the sources in the Test , my columns of ABC are getting renamed to col1_1,col2_2 as they are the same as Combined.

I created VDB for it TestVDB. Now i am posting in :

http://localhost:8080/odata/TestVDB/Test

i am posting the col1_1, col2_2 ... all the renamed columns of the ABC table , so that they can get POST into ABC .

But it is throwing an error.

Error occured producing OData result.: java.lang.RuntimeException: can't find property: entry on type: Test

Is there any way to make this work ?

Madhurika,

On your view Test, you need to edit the transformation for insert and add your own such that you are only inserting into "OneTable" and not "Combined". Also why do you need to keep the combined in your view "Test" if all the column names are same. You can either remove all the duplicate names from the "Test" and leave only unique names, there is no restriction that you got to include all the columns from both "OneTable" and "Combined".

Also, full stack-trace is needed for us to see what is error you are seeing.

If i delete duplicate columns , how can i be sure that the data inserted goes into either tables underneath view(Combined) or to the table(ABC).What kind of transformation are u talking about?

Madhurika,

Have you gone through any quick start examples in Teiid? I suggest you going through and learning how Teiid works first, then you can delve into your usecase with much more ease.

These will give you better idea how it works, and how you can import and create views in the Teiid.

BTW, if your view in the source "Combined" does not support insert, then Teiid can not help to insert through that view, you need to write SQL code in the Teiid's View (Test) to insert into underlying tables of "Combined" directly.
