We are developing a new version of MAT which we aim to be the generic migration assistance tool for moving from application servers to JBoss.
We were just wondering what languages people though would be useful for this?
Our current tool is written in groovy, would it be a good idea to stick with groovy or should we consider moving to something else, perhaps Java?
Remember, this will be a pluggable framework where we can replace the inbound application server with options such as WebSphere, WebLogic or JBoss AS. The outbound application server will be likely fixed at EAP (or maybe AS as an alternative).
Hope you have some good ideas!
I would like to stick to Java first. Because this project is eventually an open source project. And java is still one of the mainstream programming language nowadays although groovy is based on java as well. However, I feel it will encourage more folks to contribute faster without learning groovy in advance.
