sorry for my late reply..
Nowadays everybody uses maven to set up the project dependencies. So you just need to create a new maven project and add the jbpm dependencies to it.
After that if you want to use persistent services you will need to configure them and this depends on the version of jBPM that you are planning to adopt. The category of the post says 5.4, in that case you will need to take a look at the official documentation to see how to configure the persistence mechanism.
