This is indeed a bug. I've opened https://issues.jboss.org/browse/ISPN-2682 and will soon have this fixed.

Thanks Tristan for looking into it. Any idea about when it will be fixed? I need to test using the Key2StringMapper implementation but all of my config is in xml. I would need to update to programmatic config if it takes too long...

The pull request is awaiting review: https://github.com/infinispan/infinispan/pull/1549
It should end up in CR1 which should be available very soon.

It looks like it is fixed in CR1 based on the release notes. However, can you provide an example of the infinispan-config.xml jdbc cache store with the value set?

Just add the "key2StringMapper" attribute with a fully qualified class name to your JDBC store:
