I have created the milestone_0.1_M1 branch in parent, core, components, and quickstarts. This will be a static release version and not a SNAPSHOT. Any showstopper changes for M1 can be applied to the M1 branch, but must also be applied to the master branch. This means two pull requests for a person submitting a fix for M1.

Artifacts in the M1 branch should not be pushed to Nexus. We will do this once, just before we announce.

Shouldn't you change the version in the poms?

Yes, I'm doing that now. The actual version will be "0.1.0-M1" in order to play nice with Maven conventions and version range support.

This reminds me that we really should change our SNAPSHOT version from 1.0.SNAPSHOT to 1.0.0-SNAPSHOT.
