ericcire Sep 4, 2002 10:39 AM (in response to hideki)I could be wrong about this, but, I think the original name of the project was "EJBoss" but Sun sued them for trademark infringement or somesuch. So they dropped the E. I assume Sun can't copywrite every Java related word with a "J" in it.

cepage Sep 4, 2002 12:59 PM (in response to hideki)JBoss is short for EJBoss. (EJBoss is considered a violation of Sun trademarks)
EJBoss stands for, if I remember correctly, Enterprise JavaBeans Open Source Software (as coined by Rickard).

jasonr Sep 4, 2002 1:35 PM (in response to hideki)JBoss used to be EJBoss if I'm not mistaken. It was the concatentation of EJB and Boss. However, Sun did not like the use of EJB in their name, so they dropped the E and went with JBoss.
