Version 3

    The Problem

Currently, the SBS editor (which is based on tinymce) does not offer a way to divide a quote block so that you can put your reply inline (interleave style).

    Expected behavior

In other rich text editors, such as the one in Gmail, if you place the mouse cursor in the middle of a quote block and hit the Enter key, the quote block divides, allowing you to type your reply in between the two quote blocks.

    Enhancement request

Issue ORG-466 has been filed requesting this feature to be supported natively. However, there is a workaround so that we can keep our sanity in the interim.

    Workaround #1

    1. Click the Reply link in a thread to begin your reply
    2. Click the "Quote Previous Message" button (the icon with the quote marks) to insert the original message as a quote block.
    3. Right click on the quote and select "Remove".
    4. Highlight a portion of the message on which you want to comment
    5. Click "Insert > Quote" (Insert is the double right arrow).
    6. Write your reply below.
    7. Repeat steps 4 - 6 for each part of the message to which you want to add a comment.

    Workaround #2 (Copy&Paste style)

    1. Click the Reply link in a thread to begin your reply
    2. Copy to the clipboard a portion of the message on which you want to comment
    3. Paste it into your message
    4. Highlight that portion and click on icon "Quote previous message" or "Insert > Quote" (Insert is the double right arrow).
    5. Repeat steps 2 - 4 for each part of the message to which you want to add  a comment.
