Datasource failover on host unreachable

Hi all

I am battling with my PostgreSQL datasource failover configuration. If the target database is down, that is to say the listening port is closed, but the host is still up failover is seamless and immediate. If however the host is down alltogether, failover refuses to take place.Why is this the case?

I would have expected to see some sort of connection timeout parameter somewhere, but I cannot find one. The only mention of a timeout is that of getting a managed connection from the pool which will not solve this problem.

Am I missing something?

I am running 5.1.0 / EAP5.1

Hmmmm after posting my question and making a cup of tea I see failover EVENTUALLY happened. This means there is a timeout of horrendous proportions.....somewhere

Hi Craig,

I have similar issues. Fail over is OK except when the primary data base host is down. Do you know how to fix this ? We tried several things but it never switches to the back up data base, instead we have a time out.
