A runtime simply refers to a directory that contains all your jbpm5 jars.  The plugin can create a runtime for you.

This was a feature that was ported from Drools Flow though the documentation hasn't been yet.  You can see the Drools documentation for a lot more details though:

If you use the installer, it will install a runtime for you automatically.

The latest install.demo (in http://sourceforge.net/projects/jbpm/files/jBPM%205/) doesn't work since the jBPM.version is 5.0-CR1

but the file is named http://hudson.jboss.org/hudson/job/jBPM5/lastSuccessfulBuild/artifact/target/jbpm-5.0-SNAPSHOT-gwt-console.zip

We are already aware of this problem. Kris told me he will fix it. In the meantime, you can make it work yourself by changing the names of the artifacts to download in the build.xml file.
