5. Re: How to check if server is for 32 or 64 Bit Windows ??
saswatamandal Jul 15, 2010 7:18 AM (in response to jbossq)From the Installation guide , I found that JBOSS SERVER can be run on 64 Bit Windows, only if we have a 64bit JVM ?
Is that correct ?
Why is not there any 64 Bit JBoss Server ??
Are all JBoss Servers 32 Bit ??
Thanks & REgards

6. Re: How to check if server is for 32 or 64 Bit Windows ??
peterj Jul 15, 2010 10:13 AM (in response to saswatamandal)Java is platform independent. Thus, any Java code will run on any platform (Windows, Linuxs, Solaris, etc.) and with any "bitness" (32-bit, 64-bit). So the one zip file that you donwloaded will work with either 32-bit or 64-bit Windows. (At work we even run JBoss AS, the exact same zip file, with a 48-bit JVM on our mainframe...)
I assume you are running a 64-bit Windows machine. If you are, go to the Java SE download web site and download the JVM for 64-bit Windows. Once installed, set JAVA_HOME to refer to it. Then you will be running JBoss AS using the 64-bit JVM. (You could also download the 32-bit JVM and run it with that.) The JBoss AS console log will print out the version of the JVM so that you can easiyl tell which JVM you are using, and of course the version will tell you if it is 64-bit. (I'd provide and example but my 64-bit systemas are at home and I only have a 32-bit system readily available at work)
