Can i set parameters for portlets in deployment descriptor?

I have a Menu portlet and i want set a variable value directly in my deployment descriptor. This var value is different in each page that this portlet is.

Or i have to use portal node to know in which page i'm!

Can you help me to find a mode to do this?

You can define <preference> entries in portlet.xml and then provide instance-specific overrides to those setting in the portlet-instances.xml file. This means that on each page the porlet appears that you need a new instance of the portlet.
